For my final year project in the Aeronautical Engineering BTEC Extended Diploma, I focused on the design and development of an innovative Oblique Wing Drone. My core objective was to investigate how an oblique wing could be integrated into an unmanned aerial system to enhance aerodynamic efficiency. I managed the project from the initial stages of research and problem identification through to the detailed planning and specification of a functional prototype.

I conceptualized and rigorously evaluated three distinct drone designs, using SWOT analysis and decision matrices to systematically determine the optimal solution. I selected the AD-1.5 Oblique Wing Drone and proceeded to develop it comprehensively. This involved creating detailed CAD models in Autodesk Inventor, compiling a full components list, and writing the foundational C++ code for its control systems, successfully translating a complex aerodynamic theory into a practical engineering proposal.
